Iranian charged with damaging NTV journalist’s camera, detained 2 days – The Star, Kenya
An Iranian national was charged in court on Tuesday for malicious damage of an NTV journalist’s camera.
Ismaell Mortaza is accused of committing the offence on March 8at the Milimani law court.
He was charged with willfully and unlawfully damaging Micah Nyandoro’s Canon camera valued at Sh150,000.
Motaza denied the charge when he appeared before Milimani resident magistrate Tobiko Sinkiyian.
He was detained at the Capitol Hill police station for two days.
According to a police report, Mortaza attacked Nyandoro in court during a session where the anti-terrorism unit wanted him detained over suspected acts of terrorism.
Mortaza allegedly attacked Nyandoro along the court corridors when he was being led to a magistrate’s court.
The matter will be mentioned on Thursday, March 16.
