Great news: Tom Ford has finally entered the world of e-commerce.
Launched today, the e-commerce branch of TomFord.com now carries accessories for both men and women, including shoes, handbags and sunglasses, as well as his Tom Ford Beauty line. Plus, the products are modeled on sexy — and in many cases, nude — men and women. You can’t get much more “Tom Ford” than that.
As is the case with many luxury brands, shipping and returns are free, with same-day shipping offered in Manhattan (sorry, outer boroughs… and the rest of the world). The site has also been optimized for mobile, which aligns with the increasing shares of mobile sales in the e-commerce space.
It’s quite the turnaround from Ford’s initial women’s wear launch, which was tightly guarded against any leaks on the Internet. Since then, Ford has slowly but surely embraced the online community, realizing that perhaps his print-only M.O. wasn’t the best route to success.
“I have waited patiently to introduce e-commerce until I felt the foundation of the brand was well established offline,” Ford says in a release. “We now have 98 retail locations worldwide and the online store is an extension of them: it is a beautiful online space that carries exceptionally crafted, hand-made products and offers superlative service.”
Additional categories — including ready-to-wear — are planned for the future, though no specific date for these launches have been given. Currently, shipping is limited to the U.S. only, though that too will expand in the future.
