First bodies from AirAsia flight QZ8501 arrive at East Java airbase – 9news.com.au

The first two coffins containing victims of downed AirAsia flight QZ8501 have been brought to Lanudal Airbase in Surabaya.

A number of family members are already in Surabaya to give blood for DNA matching to identify the bodies of passengers and crew members who died in the crash.

The arrival of the first two bodies comes a day after many of the families faced the added trauma of seeing the news of the discovery of victims live on local Indonesian television or learning accidentally from reporters.

The passenger jet crashed off Indonesia’s coast on Sunday with 162 people on board.
