Asus rolls out Zenbook UX32LA, UX32LN Ultrabook laptops – ZDNet

Things have been fairly quiet on the Ultrabook front lately, but one of its earliest supports, Asus, has just released a pair of new svelte laptops that meet the Intel platform’s specifications.

At the higher end, the Zenbook UX32LN features a full HD (1,920x,1080) 13.3-inch display and a choice of Intel Haswell CPUs: Core i3-4010U, i5-4200U, and i7-4500U. There’s also an option for Nvidia’s GeForce GT 840M graphics, based on the company’s new Maxwell architecture. Storage selections include 1TB hard drive, 128GB solid-state drive, or 500GB hybrid hard drive/SSD.

For more budget-conscious buyers, the Zenbook UX32LA, like the UX32LN, is just 0.71 inches thick and weighs 3.2 pounds. It also offers the same Intel processor and storage choices, but it comes with a lower-resolution 13.3-inch screen (1,366×768) and only uses Intel’s integrated HD Graphics 4400 instead of offering Nvida’s discrete graphics as an option.

Either Ultrabook provides a choice of Windows 8.1 or Windows 8.1 Pro and 32GB of Asus WebStorage free for three years. The company is also touting its SonicMaster audio technology for the Zenbooks, which it developed with Bang & Olufsen.

No U.S. pricing for the UX32LA and UX32LN has been announced, but it’s been reported that their base configurations will cost 699 euros and 899 euros, respectively,
