Jack Wilshere, Scott Parker, and Michael Dawson are used to performing amid the pressure of big crowds and multiple television lenses.

But on Friday night we will see them squirm while sitting in a black leather chair under one particularly uncompromising spotlight.

All three have taken part in a special
footballers’ edition of Celebrity Mastermind for Sport Relief to be
shown on BBC One at 7.00pm.

Who's the Mastermind? Is it Fulham's Parker, Arsenal's Wilshere or Tottenham's Dawson?

David
Walliams steps into the role of host usually occupied by John Humphrys
and gives the trio from Arsenal, Fulham and Tottenham a grilling that
tests their wits as much as their smarts.

It
is a sketch rather than a full show, so do not expect specialist
subjects that might reveal a hidden love for Dostoyevsky, particle
physics or American presidents.

But with a comedian at the helm all three players will need to be quick with any comeback lines.

In
such spirit, Walliams said: ‘Footballers are of course known for being
very clever so people should tune in and see how well they do.’

The
sketch sees all three wear full kits in a manner that might make John
Terry blush – but you’ll have to watch for any similar victory
celebrations.

Michael Dawson was asked what is specialist subject was, Bonanza replied Dawson, he was told you can’t have Bonanza you’ll have to answer your general knowledge questions. O.K he said. ” Who was the first man on earth”, Hos he replied, no it was Adam he was told. I knew it was one of the Cartwrights he said.

I can picture the ‘Mastermind’ topics now…letters of the alphabet, colours, numbers from 1-20 and popular nursery rhymes

‘Scott Parker, your specialist subject is success at London clubs and with England, and your time starts…..NOW – following on from Charlton, Chelsea, West Ham and Fulham, what truth is there that you aim to move to QPR, Brentford and Leyton Orient, when they get promoted, and how will that influence your selection for England?! ‘Jack Wilshere, your specialist subject is wild media attention as an English player playing for Arsenal and England, and your time starts……NOW – why do you think it’s been said you will captain England one day, when you can hardly play for Arsenal, much less England?! ‘Michael Dawson, your specialist subject is your current centre-half performance for Spurs, and your time starts……NOW – can you explain why it is people are questioning your pace and positioning for Spurs so often, and why hasn’t it improved, with you as captain?!
